Care Assistant required in the Belmont area of Durham to Support a young boy with complex disabilities.12 hours per week but flexibility for more waking night shifts/covering other carers holiday and sicknessHours:A waking night 9pm-9am on a Sunday£13.50 per hourDuties and requirements will be care for a four year old boy overnight whilst asleep, non invasive ventilation monitoring oxygen saturations and attend to personal care as needed, get him dressed for the following day.

This is a waking night shift therefore it is vital you are able to stay awake.While this role involves some quite complex medical and personal care, applicants should be aware that the service users are children first, who love to have fun.An NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care and/or experience in working with children who have complex disabilities and health needs is desirable, although this could be negotiable for the right candidate.Successful candidates will be very reliable, will be required to be able to work both independently as well as part of a team and with parents, possess good time keeping skills and initiative, as well as being fit enough to perform tasks that involve moving and handling, personal and medical care. Successful candidates must be willing to undertake advanced training in non invasive ventilation, moving and handling and gastrostomy care, as well as any other training relevant to the role of a PA.Daily work will be in the child’s home, and applicants will require their own transport for commuting.Success candidates will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to commencement.
