We are currently looking to recruit two Support Workers to assist a lady who has a diagnosis of MS. She struggles with most aspects of daily life and this role is to support with showering, including washing hair, getting dried and dressed for two 1-hour shifts per week.

The purpose of your role will be to enable this lady to feel clean and comfortable and to ensure she has the ability to effectively manage her personal hygiene. She has the use of mobility aids to support with this and you will be given training to use these.

Currently all support is provided by her husband however it is hoped that this support being put in place will give him a break from some of the physical aspects of his caring role and give him a break to protect his own health and so he can continue his caring role.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of supporting adults with personal care however this is not essential as you will learn the role by working with the family. You should be able to deal with the physical aspects of this job to make sure she is safe when showering and you will work alongside another support worker.

Hours - 2 hours per week – times to be discussed at interview To be worked on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 1 hour per day however it is hoped that the Support Worker can be flexible as her condition fluctuates

MAIN DUTIES

· Support with personal care, showering, getting dressed
· Ensure safety when receiving support with personal care

Rate of pay
£13.09 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata

Person Specification
Successful applicant must:
· Ideally have experience working as a support worker including supporting with personal care
· Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities
· Have a genuine interest in working within social care
· Have a high degree of initiative
· Be punctual and reliable
· Be flexible
· Have a happy, positive and caring nature.
· Respect confidentiality.
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
