Job Description: Social care work opportunity for a Personal Assistant. Listed below are details of the job and what tasks are involved. It is advisable to refer to these when submitting your application and advise of the days/hours you are available.

Job Purpose: Friendly, nurturing and understanding PA required to support a very affectionate, smiley and friendly 12 year old boy on trips out and within the home. He is very outgoing and engaging and always wants to help and gain some independence. He enjoys going to see trains and playing with his toy trains, doing puzzles, comics and art activities. He likes to go for walks, use play equipment and play on his trampoline. The family live in a village where there are plenty of walks around them and they often walk into Harleston town for an ice cream.

This child has a diagnosis of Autism, learning disabilities and associated communication difficulties with early onset puberty. He is predominantly non-verbal but uses odd words and short sentences. Due to allergies, he carries an EpiPen and would like the PA to be allergy aware and provide support if needed.

Location: Needham near Harleston, IP20

Details:
· Days out and local walks.
· Ensuring safety when out and about.
· Activities at home.
· Support using EpiPen if needed.

Personal Specification: Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential and desirable for the post. Assessment of these, both on application and at the interview, will be the main factor in determining your success.

Essential:
· Experience of working with children with Autism and similar needs.
· Ability to use EpiPen if required.
· Friendly, caring, nurturing and understanding.
· Reliable and flexible
· Active
· Full UK driving licence.
· Use of own car for work and appropriate insurance for business use.

Desirable:
· Flexibility in working hours to accommodate term time and school holiday hours.

Summary Terms and Conditions
· The rate of pay for this position is £14.00 per hour.
· Hours and times of work as follows: 12 hours per week during the school holidays; 8 hours per month (weekends) during term time (days and times to be discussed at interview).
· The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
· Access to free Care Skills training for employed workers.
· You will be reimbursed for any mileage and agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.

The post is subject to the following:
· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
· Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
