Looking for a personal assistant to support a young lady in her early 50’s in the Manselton area of Swansea. She has a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome which is a genetic, neurological developmental condition which means she is mentally and physically impaired. She resides with her brother who is her main carer and supports her throughout the day and night. The personal assistant is required to provide her with support within the home environment whilst her brother is working during the day.

Hours of work:

Working a Wednesday and a Thursday, 8+ hours per week. Occasional overtime is possible.

Rate of pay: £11.50

Tasks involved.

Tasks will include supporting her during the day;

• Preparing food and drink, ensuring that she has had adequate intake.
• Assisting with taking her to the toilet.
• Assisting with getting dressed and having a wash.
• Companionship during the day.

• Someone with a caring and responsible attitude
• Be willing to undertake any training identified as relating to the post e.g. Manual Handling Course, Basic First Aid

Concerning the position

You will be formally employed by the Direct Payment Client which requires a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly with appropriate holiday pay calculated. A DBS will need to be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs are met by Swansea council.
