Staff Nurse

Wellington Ward

Fixed Term for 8 months (Long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays until end of June 2025)

We have an exciting opportunity available at the Royal Cornwall Hospital for Pre Registered & Registered Nurses to join our committed team on Wellington Ward in the Specialist Medicine Care Group.

Wellington Ward cares for people with acute and chronic Respiratory conditions. We are seeking applications from nurses who have the ability and determination to learn in these specialties to gain new skills and competencies. You will be working on a ward that provides a positive environment to work in, whilst respecting your contribution to work within a specialty that gives you an opportunity to do what you do best, care for patients.

We encourage applicants to be from both acute and non-acute nursing backgrounds and who are motivated to develop the highest standards of care and who are committed to continuous improvement.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours per week. However, part-time hours would also be considered.

Our specialty makes us an exciting and ambitious forward thinking ward that provides holistic, multi-professional care. Wellington Ward is involved in delivering a respiratory higher care service for patients that require an increased level of support. This will lead to additional training opportunities in non-invasive ventilation, chest drain management, reading ABGs and venepuncture/cannulation. We also provide holistic care for patients with chronic respiratory conditions and work closely with members of the Respiratory Specialist Nursing Team and Palliative Care Team.

As a Registered Nurse you will be a key player of the team in decision making for the on-going treatment and care. We are seeking to appoint highly motivated and enthusiastic people that want to ensure the highest of quality in nursing care whilst respecting patient’s privacy and dignity.

Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of clinical standards. You must be able to work on your own initiative and also be an excellent team player whilst being prepared to develop as an individual and support others to develop.
