Duties and responsibilities: Provide a comprehensive contractive service and advise on womens health. Management of patient's contraceptive needs, including LARCs. Management of patients with menopausal symptoms and advise on the use of HRT, prescribing within the scope of competency. Fitting and changing of ring pessaries Fitting, removal and checks of IUCDs Fitting, removal and checks of subdermal implants Advice and management of patients taking oral contraceptive medicines. Smear taking as directed by the national screening programme, or as clinically necessary. Gain an awareness of local services for women to aid as a resource for colleagues i.e. sexual health services and other relevant support services. Maintain an awareness about the general health of patients, managing the patients in a holistic manner and signposting as necessary. Make referrals to secondary care and social services within locally agreed protocols, guidance and pathways. To instruct and educate patients in preventative health care, particularly in regard to womens health. Assesses incontinence/prolapses and provides advice on pelvic floor exercises, topical therapies, and ring pessaries. Assesses and advises management of common minor gynaecological conditions e.g heavy menstrual bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, pelvic pain Fully document all aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork for legal and administrative purposes. Offer a holistic service to patients developing where appropriate an on-going plan of care/support with an emphasis on prevention and self-care. Contribute to the practice quality targets to consistently achieve high standards of safe, evidence-based, cost-effective patient care and service delivery.
