The post holder will take a lead role in the management and interrogation of the Trusts Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS). The role supports the Energy and wider Estates Team in ensuring the BEMS is being utilised effectively, efficiently and in a complaint manner.

The post holder will have responsibility for overseeing compliant administration and operation of a range of BEMS systems (Schneider, Sauter, Trend, Johnsons). The role will include monitoring BEMS performance, advising on proposed installations and upgrades, managing contractors, investigating anomalies and rectifying faults.

In line with the Trust’s sustainability commitments, this role supports the Energy Team in development and delivery of energy efficiency improvements, asset management, digitisation, and compliance with statutory energy and carbon obligations as required. You will work closely with the team to analyse performance of the Trust’s Energy Centres and onsite power and heat generation, and support with recommendations for optimising energy centre operations.



Whilst the role will have a work base at International House, Wythenshawe Hospital, this is a group role and there will be a requirement to work across all MFT sites.

Ensure the Trusts Building Energy Management Systems are being operated effectively, efficiently and in a compliant manner. This includes in-house systems and PFI partner operated and controlled systems (Schneider, Trend, Johnsons and Sauter)

Analysis and reporting of all MFT Building Energy Management Systems

Investigate variances, faults and anomalies on building energy performance, where related to energy plant, infrastructure and metering, working with relevant staff as appropriate.

Plan and schedule PPMs and energy reviews of all outstations across MFT (100+ outstations) as required. Develop and implement routine monitoring of all relevant energy systems under BEMS control.

Manage BMS updates including license, software and security updates, working with Estates and Facilities colleagues, PFI partners and IT as required.

Assist in design and project commissioning to ensure that BMS controls for energy plant and systems are properly commissioned in line with the Trusts Energy Design Guide and relevant specifications.

· Provide technical expertise and actionable recommendations as required, e.g. on project and maintenance groups or funding bids. This will include input into Design Operations (Des-Ops) for all new developments to ensure the systems being designed are suitable for the clinical service being delivered while also meeting energy efficiency and best practice requirements.
