About the Role:
The Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering care within a neurobehavioral model. You will manage a caseload of individuals with complex mental and physical health needs, helping them recover skills in areas such as self-maintenance, productivity, education, and leisure. You'll have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills with support and supervision from senior OTs while making a positive impact on people's lives.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical / Professional Practice
* Work autonomously in a specialist clinical area, developing skills in neurological rehabilitation under the supervision of senior OTs.
* Manage a caseload of individuals with complex mental/physical health needs or challenging behaviours.
* Complete assessments, formulate treatment plans, and implement evidence-based interventions to support individual rehabilitation goals.
* Develop and monitor care programs, working closely with rehabilitation support workers or therapy assistants to ensure effective delivery.
* Engage with individuals and their families, addressing potential resistance to rehabilitation through strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
* Conduct and regularly update risk assessments, ensuring the multidisciplinary team is informed of any changes.
Leadership:
* Manage and prioritise your workload, with guidance from senior OTs, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
* Support a culture of safety and high performance by identifying areas for improvement and taking appropriate action.
* Promote the occupational therapy profession, building partnerships across internal teams and external agencies.
* Contribute to clinical governance and attend occupational therapy meetings, implementing agreed outcome measures to improve service quality.
