We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for an 18 year old young woman. The purpose of your role will be to enable her independence, support to have time taking part in activities she enjoys. You will mostly support out in the community.

As her mental health and some aspects of physical health can make her every day life challenging, we are looking for a patient, kind and experienced person to support and enable her to live each day as she wants. We would ideally like someone who has similar interests which are a love of animals, going to the theatre, music, Art and drawing as well as going for walks and popping for a coffee.

This young woman is non-verbal and has her own way of communicating her needs, you will get to know this as you build up the relationship.
She is quite isolated and so enabling her to take part in activities out in the community, meeting and being around new people and places will make a real difference to her wellbeing.

You should have good general health as part of your role will be supporting with mobility when out and about, she uses crutches and so you will need to ensure safety at all times.

You should ideally be a non-smoker/vaper.
It will be an advantage however not essential if you have experience or knowledge of neurodiversity and the ways this can affect people.

We would also like our support worker to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.

We would prefer you to be a car driver with your own transport. Expenses will be met by your employer.
Hours -
4 hours per week

MAIN DUTIES· Support with enabling independence· Assist with taking part in activities and to pursue hobbies and interests· Ensure safety when out and about

Rate of pay:
£13.09 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata
- can be flexible on days and times

Person Specification· Ideally have experience working as a support worker with children or adults· Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities· Have a genuine interest in working within social care· Have a high degree of initiative· Be punctual and reliable· Be flexible· Have a happy, positive and caring nature.· Respect confidentiality.

Car driver essential and must have business insurance.
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
