The Maples is a specialist Neurological Continuing Health Care Unit with 18 beds.

The patients at The Maples have very complex needs and you will gain knowledge in neurological conditions for example: Acquired brain injury, subarachnoid haemorrhage, and Huntington’s disease.

We pride ourselves on the high standard of care we provide and we were the first unit in the community to be awarded SCAPE status.

We are looking for highly motivated Registered Nurses wishing to develop their skills within Neurosciences and create opportunities to progress. You will need to acknowledge that as well as providing specialist care for our patients, there will be opportunities to develop your skills to become expert in caring for a group of patients with complex conditions.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated adult nurse with a passion for delivering high standards of care. The Unit receives patients from throughout the Greater Manchester region, accepting transfers in and out and therefore excellent communication skills are essential.

You will be supported on the ward by the wide range of the MDT members and a supportive preceptorship period.

You will be able to:-
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
• Aspire to deliver excellent standards of care
• Be able to work collaboratively with all members of the MDT
• Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients and their relatives

We pride ourselves in supporting staff and ensuring opportunities are available to develop personally and professionally. We work closely with the learning and development team to ensure staff members are supported and can develop their skills.

You will be offered full support and training to a high standard to ensure that you are able to provide the correct care to our complex patients, ensuring that family members and carer’s needs are assessed.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. Our 20,000 colleagues care for people in hospital and in the community, working across Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, to save and improve lives.

As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. We believe in our power and potential to make a difference and we’re always looking for people who demonstrate our three core values - care, appreciate and inspire – to join our team.

In return, we can offer you a job role with purpose and flexibility. The size and scale of the NCA means we can provide more challenge and opportunities so your career can always be moving in the right direction. By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including, a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work-life balance.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months. Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. To learn more about how you can gain a full NMC PIN to be eligible to apply for our vacancies in the future, please see the NMC website: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/register-nurse-midwife/trained-outside-uk/how-to-guide/

We recognise that many people find interviews daunting and the conventional interview approach, of unseen questions, often impacts performance on the day. We are therefore piloting sending interview questions, to candidates, in advance.

This vacancy is within one of our pilot areas therefore if you are invited for interview you will receive your interview questions in advance of your interview date. Feedback on this process will also be requested to help our teams understand and evaluate your recruitment experience.
