To provide support with a young adult who has a psychical and learning disabilities because of a brain injury
Main Duties:
The main and key duty of this role is to support this young adult to attend college. This includes supporting his transport to and from college and supporting him in and around the college campus and in teaching sessions.
Core hours of support required to attend college:
Monday 8am - 1pm
Wednesday 10am - 4pm
Thursday 8am - 4pm
Friday 9am - 4pm
Total 25hrs per week
Support is required to enable this young adult to explore and access appropriate community and leisure activities of interest, such as going to the local gym. Support is needed to plan and organize leisure time.
The individual is tech savvy with hopes to pursue interests in audio/visual technology and will gradually need support to further develop these skills and potentially progress towards vocation / work.
Support to remain as independently as possible and interact with people of a similar age.
Support with some personal care and manual handling is required, there is a wheelchair is always in use. Standing transfers and hoisting might be required as part of this role depending upon the activities chosen to engage with. The use of varied equipment is required, full training will be given.
PEG feeding is required, and this happens mainly at home. It is unlikely this will be a part of the role however if the situation were to change, full training will be provided.
Communication – can make needs known given time and encouragement.
A manual driving license is required for this post and a motability vehicle is to be used every day to and from college and for all other social activities in the community.
This post is a full-time post to support with 37 hours per week, the remaining hours not involved with college attendance will be built into the role around the individuals community plans and discussed / negotiated with the successful candidate. Ideally, we will require two PA's to support with providing this support package and hours will be open to negotiation. However, attending college is a priority. All other hours for this post can be flexible and discussed at interview.
Rates of pay£13.09 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata.Out-of-pocket expenses will be paid by the employer, for example mileage, drinks and snacks and leisure costs. Person SpecificationThe successful applicant must:

Applicants must hold a full and clean driving license and be insured for business use.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by Northumberland County Council.
