Job Description
Based at Pearse Street, Brechin
There has been a considerable investment in residential childcare by Angus Council and we are looking for a senior social care officer to join our residential team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the leadership team establishing a new house. It is anticipated you will be involved in the process of this prior to the house opening including recruitment, induction/learning and development of staff and be an important person in terms of establishing the culture.
The new facility is a detached 4 bedroom house in Brechin with modern facilities to meet the individual needs of the children and young people we support. The house will be a facility for 4 looked after young people aged 12 -21 years. Our service is inclusive and accessible to all children and the team provide love, care and support to children and young people within Angus. Our residential childcare workers create homely, welcoming environments in which children can develop a sense of emotional safety and belonging.
We are looking for someone with resilience who has the right personal skills and experience to support the team leader with the management and leadership of the service.
We provide the necessary training to help you progress in a highly rewarding career. We work as a close multi-disciplinary team.
You will be supported by your managers and other professionals. You will receive regular reflective supervision to help you work effectively with children in your care.
This job is workstyle 1. In this workstyle most of your time is spent undertaking the direct delivery of front-line services work. Depending on your role there may be a limited requirement to access a specific council location during the course of the working week if you are not delivering your service at a council location

Hours are worked on a rota system covering 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may therefore be required to carry out sleep-in and occasional waking night duties for which an allowance is payable.
Our staff work on a planned rota basis, so you will always know when you are due to work.
