Shared Lives Carers provide short-term breaks (respite social care) in their homes to support people from the age of 18, with learning disabilities, mental health, autism and Asperger’s, physical disabilities, sensory impairment or who are living with dementia and older people. This could be for a single night, a weekend or a full week depending on the needs of the client.
Our Shared Lives Short Break Carers provides overnight accommodation and activities in order to give full time carers a break or clients a change of scenery.
You can provide short breaks in your own home or you can accompany clients on holiday (in which case, the client will contribute to your costs).
As a self-employed carer, you work from your own home, choose your own hours, receive generous income tax incentives and can earn up to £676 per week. From the moment you decide to become a Shared Lives carer we provide a dedicated support worker to guide you.
