An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the CT Biopsy team as a band 6 specialist nurse.

You will need to be flexible, a team player, lead in the absence of the senior nurse and able to demonstrate a commitment to professional development and evidence based practice.

You will be supporting a 5 day a week biopsy service and will be responsible for assisting in CT and Ultrasound Biopsies.

You may also be asked to help the wider lung cancer team

1 x Permanent position 37.5 hours per week



Admit and recover patients undergoing CT and ultrasound guided biopsies.

Assist in procedure room with a band 5 RN and radiologist.

Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.

Assess, plan, prioritise implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet the patient needs.

Contribute to the organisation of multi-disciplinary, patient centred care.

Facilitate and encourage patients, carers and relatives to take an active role in care given.

Undertake duties sensitive to the needs of patients/carers and relatives from multi-cultural background.

Contribute to the development of professional nursing standards.

Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team in discharge planning, undertake nurse led discharge post procedures (training support provided).

Demonstrate the mandatory competencies of the Unit and the Trust, attending all required mandatory updates.

Ensure that patient’s emotional and psychological needs are effectively addressed.

Ensure that patient information is communicated in line with trust policy referring to the nurse in charge as appropriate.

Develop and demonstrate a working knowledge of effective multi-disciplinary teamwork and the role of individual team members.

Incorporate health education and health promotion within clinical practice.
