An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ Trust, within ourWestcall,Urgent Care Service.


Based atRoyal Berkshire Hospital, you will be working in a passionate integrated teamoperatingin partnership with the Practitioners intheOut of Hours GPs and other multidisciplinary teams within Berkshire Healthcare.


As a healthcare assistant, you will be working withinourOut of Hours Service booking patients in andcarrying out observations and treating wounds with the support of the practitioners.


Our service is open 7 days a week 365 days a year.Our opening hours are:

• Monday-Fridays18.30pm-00.00am

• Saturdays0800am-00.00am

•  Sundays- 0800am-00.00am

• Bank Holidays0800am-00.00am

Therole will be covering the following shifts:



Monday –Friday: 19:00hrs to 23:00hrs


Saturday,Sundayand Bank Holidays: 11:00hrs to 23:00hrs




• WelcomepatientstoWestcallin a courteous and helpful manner trying to allay fears and anxieties that theymay have.

• Book patients onto theclinical database collecting all relevant information intimelyandaccuratemanner

• Be able todemonstrateindependent working while working in a constantly changing environment and without direct supervision but being able to ask the team for advice whenrequired.

• Be able to act on own initiative manage own daily workloadcomprisingof both routine and unpredictable/unplanned activities

• Undertakingappropriate clinicalobservations/vital signs

• Performing simple wound care/burns/venepuncture/ECGs/urinalysis.

• Carry out administrative duties for the Urgent Care Service as directed

• Previousexperience of working in a healthcare environment

• NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
