Are you looking to develop your academic teaching and mentoring skills?
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Education and Training Team at the St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Within an established Pharmacy Education & Training Team, you will support the training and development of the pharmacy workforce and the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Trust. As a split post, you will work as a teacher practitioner within the well-established academic team at Kingston University, School of Pharmacy. You will lead on the development of our Foundation Trainee Pharmacist training programme and Undergraduate Placement programme. You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team and will establish close working relationships with colleagues both within and outside of St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust including Higher Education Institutes.
You will need to be organised, self-motivated, and passionate about developing others. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident to provide training to the multi-disciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to progress to a specialist education role and wants to drive positive changes in healthcare professionals’ development.
St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust itself is a major acute hospital that offers specialist care for complex injuries and illnesses, including trauma, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiac care, lipid disorders, renal transplantation, cancer care and stroke. We are the regional specialist care provider for South-West London, Surrey and beyond. Acute and tertiary health services are delivered from over 1,000 beds across two sites, by around 8,000 staff. The helipad was opened in spring 2014 and the work of the Emergency Department has been captured on Channel 4’s ‘24 Hours in A&E’ programme.
With national and regional referrals added to our local 3.5m catchment, we serve a population of around 5m. The hospital also provides all the usual care you would expect from a local NHS district general hospital. We provide services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton. These include outpatient rapid diagnostic and treatment facilities, a minor injuries unit, limb fitting services and 70 elderly, intermediate care and rehabilitation beds. Our main site, St George’s Hospital in Tooting – one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals – is shared with St George’s, University of London. The site hosts the St George’s, University of London and Kingston University Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, which is responsible for training a wide range of healthcare professionals from across the region.
