We are looking for a caring, reliable, Female Personal Care Assistant to join our small, friendly, fun and respectful team who support a lovely lady in her 70s living with Lewy Body Dementia. She lives at home with her husband who works alongside the team to ensure she is given the best of support. Lone working will be involved.

Hours:

Up to 16 -18 hours a week once fully familiar with client. To include 1 x full day 9am-6pm and 2x evenings 6pm-10pm.

Details:

£15.40 an hour

Fuel paid at 45p (excluding travel to work)

Annual Leave

Time and half Bank Holidays

Paid 4 weekly

Start date: Asap. A 4 week induction schedule working alongside other team members and getting to know the client will be required.

Duties:

Due to her diagnosis the support that is needed can fluctuate throughout the day. When her health allows she enjoys getting out of the house for a drive or short walk, or may need the support of a pushed wheelchair. She enjoys visiting coffee shops, garden centres, family and friends but also her health can mean she can be bed bound or house bound for prolonged periods.

Communication can be a challenge due to her condition, so her carer must be calm and patient.

She is a very independent when her health allows but due to difficulties walking, needs supervision to ensure her safety.

All aspects of personal care will be required.

You will be working in a welcoming family home with adaptions to meet her needs.

Other tasks include and are not restricted to: Support with personal hygiene, support with meals times. Some light meal preparation will be involved, administering medication, monitoring and reporting on client condition with the family and team.

Essential Criteria

The female candidate must have a minimum 2 years experience working with people with Dementia (preferably LBD). Driving License. Reasonable level of fitness is required due to the nature of this role.

Preferred:

First Aid certificate, Manual Handling Training, NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent, understanding of geriatric health, mobility issues and best nursing practices.

Location: based in Richmond, North Yorkshire
