An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Urgent Care Team at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

The role encompasses undertaking assessment of undifferentiated patients attending the ED using a range of different assessment and management methods, which may include physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medicines and advanced health needs assessment. Where competent and qualified to do so this will include children of all ages.

The ACP will manage and support the ACP with their learning and development as well as developing the advanced practitioner service working collaboratively with the lead ACP.

The post holder will be expected to work on the ACP rota working a 24 hour rota pattern (including weekends and night).

The post holder will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the ED. They will ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area.

The post holder will work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues within the hospital and community settings; to meet the needs of the patient ensuring high standards of individual patient care is delivered in accordance with the Trusts values and quality strategy. The post holder will assist in the development and enhancement of the service whilst providing a senior visible and accessible point of contact for parents, carers, nursing and medical staff in the department and multi-disciplinary team.

The ACP will provide professional and clinical leadership and will support the lead ACP to develop the ACP workforce and deliver the workforce strategy across emergency medicine. The ACP will provide a high level of clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse and undetermined caseload of patients requiring unscheduled care, who may have highly acute presentations from the very sick seriously ill, to the more minor common illnesses and injuries.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
