About Us

Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales.

Your Role

Service Line: Learning Disabilities

Summary of the site

Cygnet Cedars is a 24-bed high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities.

Within the hospital is one step-down single occupancy flats. With their own lounge, kitchen, en-suite bedroom and their own front door this allows for further community integration and focus on daily living skills.

Each individual in our care begins a personalised care pathway that helps them develop the necessary skills to leave our service and move towards a less restrictive setting.

We encourage the men in our care to make their own choices and live as independently as they are able to. Our in-house multidisciplinary team (MDT) supports each individual to achieve their own goals. This offers support from the nursing team, psychology, psychiatry, speech and language and occupational therapy.

The occupational therapy team promotes setting realistic goals. By using a person-centred and holistic approach, the team enable the individual to achieve things that are meaningful to them.

The therapy programme at Cygnet Cedars offers activities balancing self-care, productivity and leisure. These activities and functional tasks support positive mental health. The team support service users to identify routine, roles, interests and occupational demands.

Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs. You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects.

As a member of the OT team, you will be supported and work alongside qualified OTs, OTAs and activity coordinators.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
