We are pleased to advertise a Band 3 Theatre Support Worker vacancy to work across the operating theatres at Salford Royal Hospital.
Band 2 Consideration: Candidates who do not initially meet the full criteria for Band 3 will be considered for a Band 2 position with the prospect of progression to Band 3 upon fulfilling the necessary requirements.
About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and efficient Theatre Support Worker to join our dynamic General and Emergency Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality care within the theatre setting, during general and emergency surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of the theatre and patient areas.
• Provide logistical support to healthcare professionals during surgical procedures.
• Ensure the well-being and safety of patients at all times.
• Manage and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the theatre environment.
• Handle equipment and instruments.
The shift pattern is days and nights, 7 days a week.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparation of Surgical Areas:
• Set up the theatre rooms prior to surgical procedures.
• Ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available and sterile.
• Patient Care:
• Assist in the transfer of patients to and from the theatre.
• Provide reassurance and support to patients pre- and post-operation.
• Supporting the Surgical Team:
• Hand sterile instruments and supplies to the scrub staff.
• Help position patients on the operating table.
• Maintenance of Equipment:
• Ensure surgical instruments and equipment is sent for cleaning and sterilisation post-operation.
• Conduct routine checks and maintenance of theatre equipment.
• Health and Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to infection control protocols.
• Dispose of clinical waste according to hospital guidelines.
• Administrative Tasks:
• Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient details.
• Stock management and inventory control.
• Continuous Learning:
• Participate in training sessions and workshops.
• Stay updated with the latest best practices in theatre operations.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient operation of the theatre.
• Participate in debriefings and team meetings to discuss improvements
