The suitable candidate will need to complete a variety of training relevant to the post. The suitable candidate will require an enhanced DBS check. This position is annual and the successful candidate must be able to work all year round bar the closure at Christmas and bank holidays and have the flexibility to work between 8am-6pm. A level 3 qualification is essential. A full clean driving license is desirable.
Purpose of post

Responsible to Nursery Manager
Main duties
· To be a positive role model to colleagues and children and effectively and enthusiastically carry out all duties.
· To support the team members to have the specific knowledge and skills required to work effectively with children of this age.
Attend and lead weekly staff meetings following the agenda and feeding back to the management team as appropriate.
Formulate and operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members and the Manager (planning).
To follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure and ensure all team members are able to do the same
To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys, share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life and institute reviews for parents, in conjunction with the Manager.
Support all team members with the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate liaising the SENCO as required.
Support all team members to complete observations, termly assessments including 2-year checks when applicable. This should also include an end of nursery room review to support transition to the pre-school room to ensure staff have a clear understanding of each child’s key strengths and areas for development. This may require checking approving posts on famly.
Complete administrative tasks necessary for the role including, allocating key children and compiling/updating lists. Organising blue wallets, name cards and the birthday lists, organising the rotas for the snug, lunch and other daily tasks, sending letters and posts to parents and sharing the observations for parents which illustrates the weekly planning.
Feed into appraisals, target setting, and nursery operations as deemed appropriate by the manager.
Attend nursery management meetings and feed appropriate information back to your teams.
Support all staff to engage in good team working.
Support team members to complete any training or support needs that have been identified that they may require to fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
Support new team members through inductions in partnership with the manager.
Ensure all record keeping is accurate and up-to-date within your designated area, including learning journeys of all children in your room, accident forms, and any other forms/records required for the child’s welfare, learning and development.
Ensure room checks and outdoor checks are conducted in line with nursery procedures and risk assessments.
Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with the nursery
To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising events etc.
Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment and such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Manager.
Provide guidance and support to students and volunteers within the setting using their handbooks as a guide when necessary.
Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery philosophy is fulfilled.
Read, understand, and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manager. Support team members to do the same and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the health and safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children.
Ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects each child.
To ensure confidentiality of all information received by all team members in your area.
· To form good working relationships with school staff, respect the school buildings and property and not bring the professionalism of the nursery into disrepute.
· To review and discuss personal training and to attend courses and training in relation to the job.
