Job Advert: Support Staff for PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in Wolverhampton
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the dedication and resilience to support students facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? We're looking for committed individuals to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wolverhampton, supporting students aged 11-19.Role As a member of our support staff, you'll work closely with students who need guidance and encouragement to succeed in a specialised learning environment. The role involves working 1:1 and in small groups, helping to build self-confidence, developing coping strategies, and supporting academic and personal growth. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe, understanding, and structured environment to support each student's individual needs.
Responsibilities



  • Provide day-to-day support to students, helping them manage their behaviour and emotions

  • Assist teachers with planning and delivering lessons tailored to SEMH needs

  • Encourage positive social interaction and engagement in educational activities

  • Work with staff to create a supportive and inclusive environment

  • Contribute to students' individual education plans (IEPs) and work with external support as needed



Ideal Candidate



  • Experience working with young people in a PRU or similar setting, especially those with SEMH needs

  • Ability to build rapport with students and promote a positive learning atmosphere

  • Patience, empathy, and a resilient attitude

  • Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and managing challenging behaviours

  • Relevant qualifications in education, health and social care, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
