About The Role
Orbis Education and Care are seeking a dedicated and passionate support worker to join our compassionate and energetic team at our Summergil Home, and we want you to be part of our mission.
Location - Summergil House, Presteigne. £11.60 to £12.00 per hour dependent on experience

Role - Support Worker – Various hours available - Full time, Part time, Weekends only, Bank roles

Some of our flexible shifts to accommodate a variety of schedules, include:
Long days: 08:00 AM - 20:30 PM
AM shifts: 08:00 AM - 15:30 PM
PM shifts: 15:00 PM - 20:30 PM
Night shifts: 20:00 PM - 08:00 AM
We’re open to discussing shift arrangements that meet the needs of prospective staff

About our home Summergil
Surrounded by 18 acres of fields and woodlands, with its own stream and lake, a swimming pool, sports hall and vast amounts of in and outdoor learning and play opportunities, Summergil House is a stunning school and home on the border of Herefordshire and Powys. Our team of creative education, care and therapeutic professionals support children to feel safe and respected, whilst providing bright and colourful child-friendly environments in which to learn, live and make friends. Our aim is to help children to be themselves, creating lasting memories of childhood as they develop into independent young people and adults.
A typical day will include:
As a Support Worker at Summergil, you will play a crucial role in the lives of our young people, supporting their daily activities, educational needs, and personal development. You will work closely with a magnificent team including teachers, therapists and other support workers to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.

We offer a variety of on-site and off-site activities tailored to meet individual needs and interests. These include sensory play, arts & crafts, nature walks, swimming, and horse riding. On-site, we use our outdoor spaces, therapeutic environments, and personalised rooms to create a comfortable, homely atmosphere. We also focus on community-based activities with regular trips to local attractions such as parks, shopping trips, and themed events.

Responsibilities:

- Provide personalised care to each person in their daily activities, including personal care, learning and social interactions.
- Foster a safe and positive environment, ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of each person.
- Implement individualised care plans, under the guidance of an incredibly supportive senior team.
- Support our young people during recreational activities, outings and community integration.
- Collaborate with the wider team to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in our young people, celebrating their achievements and milestones.

- Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.

- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
- A Driving license is preferable and access to own transport would be advantageous due to the rural location
