Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM) operates as the innovation arm of the NHS, and this exciting role sits within our small, dynamic Patient Public Leadership & Equalities (PPLE) Team.

HIEM’s role is to support healthcare organisations transform patient outcomes by adopting innovative technologies and ways of working – and our PPLE Team helps ensure we take a robust approach to public participation, equity, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) across our activity.

In addition to supporting our internal programme teams to deliver effective PPI and EDI, we offer external advice and expertise to our NHS and healthcare partners, including delivering specific PPI and EDI work packages.

We are seeking an experienced, organised and dynamic team player – a person who is passionate about patient involvement and EDI and is excited by the opportunity to work across the East Midlands health and care system at the forefront of healthcare transformation.

This role is offered on an initial 12-month fixed term period or secondment.

The provisional date for interviews are: Tuesday 7 or Tuesday 14 January 2024.

We are looking for someone with expertise in patient and public participation and equality, diversity, and inclusion. The role will focus on the following areas:

· Deliver HIEM’s Patient and Public Leadership programme - ensuring patient and public views are embedded across our work.

· Support and advise HIEM’s internal teams on the approach to, and delivery of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), including production of Equality Impact Assessments/Equality Analyses.

· Plan and coordinate thought leadership events and webinars and produce PPI and EDI resources.

· Provide expertise and support the delivery of a series of PPI and EDI work packages for HIEM’s external health and care partners and innovators.

We are one of 15 Health Innovation Networks around England that operate as the innovation arm of the NHS.

We bring together partners from all sectors involved in health and care including the NHS, social care and public health, patients, research, third sector and industry – to identify, test and spread new technologies and better ways of working.

We save the NHS money, generate economic growth, empower health and care staff, and improve lives for patients.

We work closely with our health and care stakeholders to establish their priorities then provide support. As part of a national network, we import evidenced solutions from other Health Innovation Network regions and export our successful East Midlands programmes on a national basis.

We have a range of objectives, but our overarching aim is always to make a difference for patients.
