Purpose of job:

You are required to ensure that you contribute to a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children attending. You will contribute to positive marketing of the Nursery and give support to other staff members. You are to implement the daily routine in the base room and ensure free flow play is available.

Main responsibilities:

• To contribute to a program of activities suitable to the developmental age range of children in conjunction with other staff
• To keep up to date and accurate records of achievement on your key children
• Work alongside parents/carers of all children including those with additional needs to allow full access to the Nursery. Ensure daily liaison and communication with families occur
• Work alongside all staff members, contributing and engaging to form a good staff team
• To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, full staff meetings, regular room meetings, parents evenings, summer fare, Christmas party, etc.
• To be flexible within working practices of the nursery
• To be motivated and to motivate the children and staff
• Be prepared to help where needed, including certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment etc
• Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the aims and objectives of the organisation are fulfilled
• Record accidents in the accident file. Ensuring all staff are aware, the child is tended to and the parent/carer is made aware
• Look upon the Nursery as a ‘whole’, where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of the children
• To ensure the safety of all children and they are only to be collected by persons known to the Nursery - in line with the policies and procedures
• To respect the confidentiality of information received
• To develop your role within the team especially with regard to that of a keyworker
• To ensure the planning, preparation and completion of activities suit the child's stage of development and links with their interests
• To ensure that meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing
• Washing, cleaning and changing children as required
• Providing comfort and warmth to a poorly child
• To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development
• To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times including Social Media sites
• To adhere to all policies and procedures
• Any other tasks that may be reasonably asked that are in line with the role
