Responsibility for People Management Demonstrate those inter-personal skills that promote clarity, compassion, empathy, respect and trust. Support and supervise junior members of the team as required - to participate in providing instruction, learning opportunities and assessment of Bands 2/3 staff, students and other trainees as required. Support and supervise pre-registration nursing students as per the NMC guidance for supervision and assessment and other learners within the team. To recognise and understand different roles and responsibilities of individuals working in Livewell Southwest. To delegate work to others as required. Take responsibility for the training of others and may be required to deliver training. Responsibility for financial and/or physical resources To use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively and to provide evidence of these efforts. Exercise personal duty of care in the safe use and storage of equipment. Be environmentally aware and prudent in use of resources and energy. Safely carry out moving and handling of individuals and equipment. Use electronic resources to input, save and retrieve information making use of eRecord systems. Responsibility for administration Prioritises workload effectively, this could include scheduling your workday appropriately or managing your own diary of appointments and visits (as well as mileage if applicable) This requires a high level of time management and organisation skills. Ensure clear, concise, accurate and legible documentation and all communication is maintained in relation to care delivered adhering to local and national guidance. To undertake any non-clinical / clerical duties as necessary. This may include maintaining stock levels, ordering equipment, and filing, dealing with telephone calls, and cleaning. To participate in audit as part of service review and improvement processes. To comply with legislation, policies, procedures, and other quality approaches relevant to the work being undertaken. To participate in the planning and implementation of operational policies, projects, and service development within the team. Follow all information governance guidance and policies. Maintain confidentiality as outlined within data protection policies. Report any accidents or incidents as per organisational policy Responsibility for people who use our services To give compassionate, holistic evidence-based practice to patients in the in line with national and organisational approved policies / procedures and individual care plans. Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans under the appropriate delegation of a registered professional. Contribute to ongoing assessment recognising when it is necessary to refer to others for reassessment. To record and report regularly on patient progress and treatment to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and handovers. To demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of conditions relevant to the clinical area. Observes any changes in the patients condition, manages these changes in line with scope and competence, reporting findings to the most appropriate clinician in a timely manner. In the event of a change in patient status, can safely decide whether to proceed with treatment (including medicines administration) and/or seeks support from a registered nurse to decide. Undertakes delegated clinical skills within their role having once undertaken relevant training, deemed competent and adhere to standard operating procedures. Safely uses a range of non-invasive and invasive interventions whether therapeutic, technological, or pharmacological, within the defined scope of the role. Implements the goal planning process and outcome measures used in the clinical area to review progress of the patient. Administers medication within scope of practice, competency and as delegated by the registered nurse. Support patients to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing. Active involvement in the prevention of and protection against disease and ill health Recognise and report any situations, behaviours or errors that could result in poor care outcomes. Report to appropriate registered care professional information received from the individuals, carers and members of the team. Ensure all patient related information is treated sensitively and always adhere to the principles of confidentiality. Prioritise the day-to-day management of own caseload/ workload delegating activities to junior staff as appropriate. Engage in public health, community development, and in the reduction of health inequalities and increased self-management. To act as the patient's advocate and, by providing information and support, facilitate the patient's own choices in conjunction with carers and other agencies where relevant. Respect patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, wishes, and beliefs always minimising any necessary discomfort. Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice and guidance from the Registered Nurse or other registered care professionals as appropriate. Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or concerns to the appropriate registered care professional. Assist in the assessment of and contribute to the management of risk across several areas within the care environment. Develop a working knowledge of other providers resources and referral systems to ensure individuals needs are met, within scope of practice. Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberties and apply principles to everyday practice seeking advice / guidance from the Registered Nurse as required. Document all care given in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy. Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and outcomes. Report concerns regarding health and safety issues within the working environment to the appropriate staff. Demonstrate a high standard of care within a Quality and Safety framework. Contribute to the improvement of service by reflecting on own practice and supporting that of others. Regularly attend workplace and staff engagement meetings and contribute positively to discussions about the improvement of care. Other Responsibilities Participates in line management and practice/clinical supervision. To participate in self-appraisal and performance reviews and works in partnership with manager to develop and deliver on Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound (SMART) objectives at appraisal and personal development planning meeting. Engage in reflective practice including management of self and reflection on own reactions, asking questions and reflecting on answers given. Exercise personal responsibility and work independently within defined parameters of practice, taking the initiative in a variety of situations and performing a range of clinical and care skills consistent with the roles, responsibilities, and professional values of a Nursing Associate To understand the importance of personal resilience and wellbeing to professional performance Is proactive in seeking opportunities to develop own knowledge and skills. Seeks support / guidance in timely manner if any difficulties are encountered. Takes responsibility for organising and attending statutory / mandatory updates in accordance with organisational requirements. Acts as an excellent role model by upholding and implementing good practice in the workplace. Recognises and either directly challenges or seeks support to challenge any poor practice observed. If applicable, adhere to the Lone Working Policy and ensure procedures are adhered to. To be accountable for own clinical practice. Advocate the role of the Nursing Associate Carry out responsibilities and act professionally in line with The NMC Code (2018) Take responsibility to ensure NMC revalidation and registration requirements are met as per NMC guidelines, seeking support if required to complete. There may be other certain defined skills, tasks, and responsibilities that you undertake as part of your role as a Nursing Associate within your specific clinical team/area. These may be linked to a competency framework document if available.
