Pay Rate: £22.00 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 9 months

City: Kensington, London

Standard DBS disclosure required for this role

The purpose of the role is to provide high quality financial support, administration and advice to all officers and partner organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

Offer assistance to services and budget managers for them to able to manage the efficient input of all transactions processed through the General, Purchase and Sales Ledgers and social care systems.
Be fully conversant with the Corporate on-line accounting systems.
Ensure that all transactions processed comply with VAT law and financial procedures.
Deal efficiently with enquiries regarding payments and financial queries.
Provide general financial support to the rest of the finance team as required.
Use the Council’s office-based and mobile IT packages to a high standard to effectively carry out the duties of the post.
Report instances of non-compliance, errors, omissions, or inadequacies in procedures to managers and suggest solutions.
Support accountants in the maintenance of financial systems, procedures, and controls to ensure financial data is recorded in accordance with accounting best practice.
Assist accountants in the delivery of special projects.
Carry out any further finance-related duties, as directed by the line manager.
Provide a high standard of customer service, to both internal and external.



Qualifications:

Relevant finance qualification.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Must have experience of working as part of a finance team, within a public or private sector organisation and working knowledge of core financial systems.
Experience of working as part of a finance team, within a public or private sector organisation.
Experience of using core financial systems and other supporting IT
Experience of undertaking work on key financial processes and controls, and ability to monitor and report on these.
Able to produce work to agreed deadlines and standards.
Able to work as part of a team to support and improve financial processes, controls, or transactions.
Able to demonstrate good inter-personal skills with colleagues and customers, and able to communicate complicated data sets effectively.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
