Halas Homes is a residential care home for adults with learning disabilities
Purpose of Position
To share with other staff in meeting the personal needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and to promote independence.
To help in the care of the residents’ physical environment and in the general day to day activities in the home.
To reflect service users’ goals as determined by service user plans.
Principle Responsibilities:
Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet. Senior Care and supervisors to expand by discussion i.e. What does personal hygiene mean to you?
Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
Care for residents who are temporarily sick and needing, bed nursing etc.
Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations, promoting independence where possible.
Make and change beds, tidy rooms and carry out light cleaning duties.
Inspect and keep residents clothing tidy.
Set tables and trays, serve meals, feed residents who require help, prepare light meals and wash up, tidy and clear dining room and domestic duties including ironing.
Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone, greet visitors.
Read and write reports, take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed. Complete the Home Log Book on a daily basis, and any reports required.
To have knowledge of Halas Home policies and procedures and to ensure that you comply with these.
Be aware of the General Social Care Council (GSCC) Code of Practise and put into practise.
To undertake and take ownership of a Personal Development Plan, which is linked to Halas Home aims and objectives.
Carry out other duties as may be required.
Night Care – (Sleep in Duty)
To provide ‘sleep-in duty’ cover in Home.
To ensure that all residents are checked with Register.
Answer emergency bells, assess situation, deal with resident seeking help or summon the senior care staff on call.
Assist residents who need help, reassurance, comfort or just a cup of tea.
Prepare residents for bed and assisting them in the morning as directed.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
