A little about myself:
I am a young boy and I live at home with my family. I have a diagnosis of ASD and therefore require lots of time and attention to ensure that I am kept safe. I like to run, climb, swim, and do anything active. I like listening to music and dancing and enjoy watching my favourite things on CBeebies. I am non-verbal and communicate my wants and needs through signs and symbols. I can lead a person to what I want, for example going to the toilet. I am allocated a 2:1 package of support so I require two members of staff to support me.

Driver required to take me out.

Male / female preferred.

Hours of work
5 hours a week term time and 8 hours a week school holidays can be flexible.

Rate of pay.
£12.75

Essential:
I need you to:
• Ensure my safety as I am a busy boy, I like to run off and I am a thrill seeker so will wait for my opportunity.
• I need you to always hold my hand when out in the community as I have no danger awareness and I can be unpredictable.
• If you take me out in the car, I like to climb out of my seat belt, so I need another person to sit by me and reassure me to keep my belt on so that I can travel safely.
• I am self-directed and I will let you know when I want an activity to be over.
• I can struggle with transitions when an activity comes to an end that I am enjoying. To support with this, I will sit in my specialist buggy.
• I like my own space, sometimes I can struggle in busier environments. I like going to the park but don’t enjoy it if the park is busy.

Desirable
• Have an awareness in basic Makaton as I am non-verbal and can communicate through signs and symbols.
• I am very busy and require a lot of energy, someone who is able to run after me and keep up with my energy levels.

I’d like support with
• To access social activities that I enjoy such as taking me swimming and to the park.
• To support me within my home environment, doing activities with me and looking after me.

I will need my PA to:

Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.

Concerning the position

A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
