UNION GROVE COMMUNITY NURSERY

Job Title: Early Years Educator/Practitioner – Fixed Hours
Responsible to: Nursery Coordinator
Qualifications: Level 3 in Early Years and Childcare

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To receive and welcome children and parents.
2. To give support to other team members within the nursery
3. To implement the daily routine in the rooms.

Purpose of the job: To work as key person and as part of the pre-school team under the direction of the coordinator. To maintain a high standard of professional practice and education at all times, ensuring children and young babies receive a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children, maintaining a stimulating and enjoyable environment.


MAIN DUTIES
1. To assist the coordinator in setting and implementing objectives and policies for the Nursery within the framework of the Management Committee
2. To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the class room, facilitating good practice by the staff team with regards to individual and group work with children.
3. To be responsible for the supervision of students (i.e. placements and volunteers) identify their learning needs by giving guidance and support and advise key staff of these.
4. Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the range of children attending the Nursery, in conjunction with the Coordinator
5. Prepare the children's records in your group and institute reviews for parents, in conjunction with the Coordinator
6. Make consistent written focus and adult led observations minimum of two per child per week to ensure the potential of each child is fully developed.
7. To understand the importance of learning through play.
8. To have a good understanding of the EYFS Developmental Matters and how to implement its standards for learning development and care for children and young babies.
9. Participate in training progamme of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support.
10. Work in partnership with parents of special needs children, to achieve full integration within the nursery and familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
11. To work in partnership with parents and to recognise that parents are children’s first and most enduring educators. To understand that this partnership results in a positive impact on children’s development and learning.
12. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
13. To participate in in-service training provided by Union Grove as and when required.
14. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.
15. Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with Union Grove Community Nursery.
16. Attend monthly staff meetings and inset training days.
17. Undertake or ensure certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snacks, meals and cleansing of equipment.
18. Understand and adhere to a commitment to provide for equality of opportunity and anti -discriminatory practice. Ensuring that every child is included and not disadvantaged because of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, learning difficulties or disabilities, gender or ability.
19. To attend parents’ meetings/key group evenings and open days
20. To keep up to date with current good practice.
21. To Keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, students or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.
22. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the coordinator, in accordance with the nursery plan/objectives.
23. Work alongside the coordinator and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the nursery is fulfilled.

TRAINING
To attend comprehensive internal and external training courses available. All approved training will be funded by the company.

Annual salary: £23,000

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week. One hour unpaid lunch break

Operational hours: 7:30am – 6:00pm/Weekly shifts
