Union Grove Community Nursery

Job title: Room Leader
Responsible to: Nursery Coordinator
Qualifications: Level 3 or above in Early Years
Salary: £25,000 per annum/35 hours a week


The room leaders at Union Grove Community Nursery lead a team of Early Years professionals to create and plan daily routines and activities to engage and stimulate the children. They confidently manage the day-to-day running of the room while encouraging their team, motivating learning and positively managing each child’s well-being.

Purpose of post
•To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in their care
•To ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted
•To have specific training/knowledge of working with children over the age of 3 in order to support their individual needs
•To give support to other team members within their immediate room and the wider nursery
•To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Job requirements
Essential
•Comprehensive knowledge of child protection and safeguarding and the ability to take the lead in vulnerable situations when required
•Excellent communication skills to enable clear articulation of your ideas and ensure successful planning and delivery by the nursery team
•Continually strive for best practice while inspiring others
•A child-centred approach to teaching using creative and exciting methods to engage and stimulate
•Understand and value holistic methods of teaching and champion heuristic problem-solving in our children
•Full and relevant Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years
•Minimum of 12 months experience working in an Early Years setting
•Right to work in the UK

Desired
•Experience in distributing staff and resources effectively, maintaining ratios whilst supporting other rooms
•Ability to build strong nurturing relationships with the nursery team and stakeholders
