LSW's (Learning Support Workers) Needed at a Growing Educational Centre Near Horsham

Are you driven to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities?

Whether you have a background in care or teaching or are simply interested in working with individuals with autism, we welcome you to embark on a fulfilling career as a LSW.

Position: Learning Support Worker (LSW)
Location: Adult Day Centre
Salary: £25,000 per annum FTE, plus a £500 joining bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Part-time options available: 3 or 4 full days per week)
Annual Leave: 23 days paid holiday plus bank holidays

About the Role:

Join this dedicated team of patient and caring individuals at their adult day centre, supporting autistic learners aged 18 and over. As a Learning Support Worker, you will:

  • Work individually and in small groups to develop knowledge and skills that enhance learners' well-being, independence, and social inclusion.

  • Utilise behaviour-driven teaching strategies and interventions to promote positive outcomes and development.

  • Support learners in applying their skills in real-world situations, both within their Centre for Lifelong Learning and in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support, care, and teaching to autistic adult learners.

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and activities that support knowledge and skill development.

  • Offer behaviourally based support to mitigate behaviours that negatively impact quality of life.

  • Provide personal care, encouraging and enabling adult learners to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene, including toileting, dressing, and washing.

  • Support adult learners' participation in social, leisure, and educational activities within the local community.

  • Assist learners in accessing work experience and employment opportunities.

  • Monitor and track learners' progress to ensure effective, tailored support.

Why Choose This Centre?

  • Competitive Compensation: A competitive salary with a £500 bonus upon joining.

  • Flexible Schedule: Sociable hours with no evening, weekend, or overnight shifts required. Part-time options are also available.

  • Generous Leave: Enjoy 23 days of paid holiday (3 days more than the standard) plus bank holidays.

  • Career Advancement: Opportunities for career progression and regular salary increases within a short period.

  • Extensive Training: Benefit from comprehensive training in first aid, safeguarding, emergency medication, and more.

  • Professional Qualifications: Opportunities to gain funded and recognised qualifications, including the Care Certificate and RQF Level 3 in adult social care.

  • Supportive Environment: Work in a supportive setting with dedicated colleagues and management, with opportunities to work independently with the learners.

What You Need:

  • A driving license or access to transportation (due to the remote location).

  • Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with adults or young people with disabilities.

  • Comfort in working with adults who exhibit challenging behaviour.

  • Ability to support others with personal/intimate care when required.

  • Calm demeanour in high-pressure situations.

  • We also welcome applications from those with no sectoral experience but with a keen interest in learning disabilities and a strong passion for helping others.
