Support Worker (Full or Part-Time)

The role of this Personal Care Assistant:
Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only. This role is to cover 43 hours a week and can be offered as one full-time position or 2 part-time positions. The hours of work will either be 15:30pm to 09:00am or 11:30am to 09:00am which includes a sleep-in for 9 hours between 11:00pm and 08:00am – staff are rarely woken.
Rota’s are agreed monthly with the team leader who tries to work with the whole team to make sure shifts fit around existing commitments. There will also be the opportunity to pick up extra cover/shifts when needed.
About the Client and Duties:
Our client is an active man in his 30’s who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury when he was a teenager. He has made excellent progress with his recovery and has full capacity. Whilst he does tasks around his home independently, he requires some support in his daily activities such as shopping, cooking, organisation and accessing the community. There is no personal care involved or any moving and handling.
Lunch and dinner are provided while on shift and you will prepare meals with our client and eat together. Our client is very fond of cooking and eating good quality food so a shared interest in this would be beneficial. You will accompany/support our client to social outings including gigs and restaurants which are paid for. There will also be the need for some of our clients care team to accompany him on holidays in the UK and abroad.
Training and Support -
We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:
· Full induction
· Safeguarding Adults
· Health and Safety
· First Aid and Food Hygiene
· Epilepsy and Head Injury
· Medication Training
· All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at minimum wage
Requirements:
· Full UK driving licence and the ability to drive our clients automatic vehicle when working
· Previous experience of working in a care role, social care role or working with head injuries would be welcomed, but not essential
· Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
· You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
· A confident cyclist so you can accompany our client on bike rides – a bicycle is provided
