We are seeking a highly motivated automomous candidate to undertake a new and exciting role within the Infection Prevention and Control team. The candidate will be responsible for audit and surviellance work achieving the Trust and IPC directed strategies. Working with the IPC team collecting data, reviewing and reporting findings and managing the annual plan of Audit and Surviellance work.

To take overall responsibility for efficient running of the Infection Prevention and Control audit and surveillance programme and the management of the process of the infection control data requirements for the Trust, maintaining effective systems and processes.

To design and implementation of and maintenance of Infection Prevention and Control surveillance. Including but not limited to patient safety audits, environmental audits, infection prevention and control audits and hand hygiene audits.

To undertake quality control and analytical work for the IPC team, driven by the needs of key stakeholders and targets.

To provide key reports to the team and wider network to demonstrate and support trends and patterns within the Royal Marsden for infection prevention control rates.

To provide an integral service to the IPC team, through data collection and analysis, as well as providing board level reports and data sets to drive improvement across the Trust.

• Facilitate and lead on Infection Prevention and Control yearly audit and surveillance programme.
• Undertake Infection Prevention and Control audits, providing initial feedback at the time of audit. Ensuring audits are completed within a specified timeframe.
• Using specialist knowledge, analyse and interpret trend and variations in infection prevention, cancer care and their indicators and outcomes, supporting planning and evaluation of cancer management guidelines and protocols.
• The post holder will act as a lead specialist in designing and setting up databases based on the IPC teams requirements.
Develop and maintain high quality and highly sensitive information management systems.
• Demonstrates enhanced data extraction skills in order to correctly reflect/interpret information required.
• Produce comprehensive and complex reports to Divisions and the Infection Prevention Control Committee on audit work undertaken and the planned programmes of work recorded in the IPC Board Assurance Framework ensuring compliance to the Health and Social Care Act (2012).
• Maintain and support audit databases including MEG, UKHS DCS and IPC element within DHR, notably Bugsy. Must be able to establish any causes for concern and escalate these appropriately.
