This post offers a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Children’s Physiotherapists to join an existing and very well established multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians and support staff delivering services to children & young people in the community for a 12 month MAT cover post.

Do you have effective communication skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently? Can you demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to learning and service delivery? Have you experience of working with children?

To deliver evidence-based assessment and treatment for babies, children and young people with neurological and neuromuscular conditions which result in movement impairment and/or global developmental delay and physical and/or learning disabilities.

To actively work in conjunction with the colleagues in the health community, Education Authority, Social Care and other partnership agencies to deliver seamless co-ordinated care to patients and their families and disseminate knowledge and facilitate a better understanding of disorders of movement impairment. To contribute to differential diagnoses for children on their caseload.



You will be able to demonstrate effective caseload management by participating in regular caseload reviews.

Through regular performance reviews demonstrate competency to practise as an autonomous practitioner within the Children’s Community Therapy Service protocols and guidelines. Under the guidance of senior colleagues, assess for and deliver evidence based, holistic care for infants, children and young adults with movement disorders of neuro-muscular aetiologies including those with complex physical disabilities and challenging behaviour.

Assess for, and instruct children, their families and carers in the use of special equipment and orthoses and jointly agree outcome measures to establish their efficacy.Evidence of goal setting in collaboration with the child, parents and carers.

Prepare Education and Healthcare Plan submissions, and as required, statements for medico-legal and Safeguarding purposes etc.Evidence of multi-agency working to contribute to holistic care.

Delegate to, and supervise junior staff and students. Informal and formal teaching of parents and carersand multiagency staff.Participate in service development and continuous service improvement.
