We are excited to announce we are recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our Adult Eating Disorder Outpatient Team. ETT provide intensive support in the community and in patients homes to improve accessibility and reduce inpatient admissions.

The post holder will work within the Outpatient service supporting with ETT duties and outpatient duties. They will provide clinical expertise and be a point of escalation. They will support the implementation of ETT, ensuring the team meet its objectives. The ANP will work clinically, hold a caseload and support junior staff with complex cases.

This role will be pivotal in supporting the changes that are currently in progress across our Eating Disorder services within the provider collaborative, and to ensure that we continue to deliver the best possible care to the patients that we serve. Key priorities will be supporting with training, development and providing therapy, assessment, consultation, and treatment.

• To be responsible for managing and prioritising own client workload of adults with complex and severe anorexia nervosa.
• To provide appropriate therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment plan.
• To be responsible for implementing a range of group work interventions focusing on life skills training, motivational and creative activities, systemic, psychological, and psychotherapeutic interventions for individual patients, and carers, families and groups.
• To be responsible for recording clinical work and communicating, both orally and in writing, in a skilled and constructive manner highly complex or distressing information, for example regarding the experience and effects of anorexia and other severe eating disorders.
• Supporting the team with complex cases and jointly visiting patients in their home or in the community to offer senior support.
• To work in close liaison with other services including health and social care, acute hospitals, services across the ED pathway and within the provider collaborative.
• To work collaboratively with the ANP for SLAM Enhanced Treatment Team
• To work closely with patients and their carers, offering family interventions, support, and guidance.
• To act as care coordinator, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans.
• To be a clinical expert in the field of Eating Disorders, supporting junior staff with clinician decision making and acting as a point of escalation.

About our location:

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.

Clinical

Professional
• In conjunction with the Matron and Team Leader ensure that all staff receive appropriate clinical supervision.
• In conjunction with the Matron and Team leader monitor performance of the team and act if necessary to maintain standards and quality within the Trust clinical governance framework and complaints, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• To ensure Trust standards of recording and information governance are maintained.
• To provide consultation and training in relation to eating disorders to a range of colleagues and professional groups as appropriate.

Teaching, Training and Supervision
• To lead on facilitating training and creating a teaching programme for the outpatient team.
• To receive regular clinical supervision from the Matron.
• To receive professional supervision as directed by the Matron.
• To undertake mandatory and statutory training, supervision and annual appraisal as required by Trust policy.
• To contribute and commit to undertaking an annual Development Review/appraisal.
• To undertake personal development as identified in the Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Management, Recruitment, Policy and Service Development
• To contribute to recruitment processes for the service and to chair interview panels for nursing recruitment.

Research and Service Evaluation
• Within Trust and service clinical governance frameworks, contribute to audit and research as agreed by the Adult EDS leadership and the SLM.

Other
• To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the matron.
• To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.
• To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health. For this post these specifically include:
